I would like to see the TradeSim platform developed as a stand-alone product for non-Metastock users. Is there an alternative? I'm not a programmer.

It is stand alone (with some seemingly minor limitations). You can upload trade-by-trade data in text format from your non-MS back testing software.

Hello damian,
The Professional and Enterprise editions of TradeSim support what is called "Universal Text Trade Database format" which allows you to read and import ASCII text file versions of the trade database. This means that you are not limited to using Metastock to generate your trade database files. For example you could import a trade database that was generated with another program such as Excel, the Notepad text editor, or another charting package such as Trade Station for example.
I know someone who has written an interface so they can use TradeSim with Amibroker. I also know of another person using it successfully with Trade Station.

Hi David,
Do you have any details of the interface with Amibroker?
I like the look of Amibroker but I do not want to invest too much time in learning its (very attractive) AFL if I will end up reverting to Metastock so I can continue to use TradeSim.
I gather that many Metastock users are moving to Amibroker as it overcomes shortcomings that have frustrated them for years and the Amibroker developers seem to be more active.

Hello
I believe there is an interface for TradeSim available from the files section of the amibroker yahoo message board.
We are working on a product that will "unfrustrate" Metastock users. Can't say to much about it yet since it is still in development stage. Suffice to say most of those "Metastock limitations" will finally be circumvented.
