Hello David,
I'm very happy whith my new TradeSim, except one thing that you could easily (I think !) improve.
I trade stocks on french market. Here (and maybe in other european contries), stocks are referenced in databases by their ISIN codes and their full name. 2 or 3 letters shortcuts symboles are not usually used as in US or Australian markets.
ISIN codes are used, but nobody knows them, because they are too difficult to remember. Stocks are known by their fullnames. Unfortunately, only INSIN codes apear in TS Trade database and Trade log.
Could you please offer the possibility to display a column with the name of the stocks instead of their symboles ? another way could be a java screept with the full stock name when the mouse points on a stock symbol.

and a detail :
I am slightly colour blinded and its difficult for me to see the difference between red and green. I've understood that TS colours are standarized, and I've solved my problem displaying background coloring in the Trade Database Manager. But this preference doesn't seem to be registered in "save at default session" or "Remember screen settings" or "save preferences on exit". Could you mend that point ? or give me the solution...

Regards,
J2L

What you suggest is a good idea but superfluous in a majority of cases except in your case. To include the stock description would really blow out the size of a trade database and slow loading down. Having said that maybe a table function which cross references the stock symbol to description could be used to in displaying the stock description.

Will look at adding this.

David,

I really insist about displaying the full name of the stocks, because ISIN codes are realy a problem for us (european people) to understand the portfolio composition.
I understand the problem of not slowing down the database loading, but could it be a possibility that TS could offer in personal option for those who accept it ?

I'm still not able to save Background coloring preference of TBM in V4.2.2 release. helpfull for colour blinded people.

and an optional possibility to display the full name of stocks instead of tickers in Trade Log or Trade Inspector and other documents, even if it's a little bit longer to display, would really be a "plus" for european customers.

That error message comes up on my computer as well even though the message is still posted. Im not sure what causes it. It has only happened since I upgraded to phpBB 2.0.10.

Regarding saving the color attributes I will put this on the to-do list.

to illustrate what I am asking for, here is the link to one page of my website.

This table is a reorganized copy of TradeSim Trade Database.
as you can see in the third column, ISIN codes as they appear in TradeSim are unusable. We need a list with full name of stocks. This list could be uploaded once, and updated some time to time.

so I stress that suggestion again. Don't forget all your european Clients.

jean-louis

Hello

What about using the first part (first 14 characters) of the security name instead of using the symbol ? Would this help ?

as you can see in the first column of this MS report copy
http://www.j2lsystem.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=72
names are a bit longer, but first 14 characters would already be a real help.
