This is a great upgrade with the addition of charts.

I do have a couple of minor issues;
1. Open trade database icon is greyed out for some reason.
2. If I go into the Trade Log I have to select the columns I want. The Basic Log does not seem to select the "3. Symbol" or "11. Actual Price" columns. Can this be altered?

Thanks Stevo

Will correct this in the next release.

David, is it also possible to get the prog to remember what's ticked? I have to right click>select Basic then re-select symbol every time I use the program.

I can't get the start and stop dates function in the Trade Database Screen to work, what's the trick?

Will the charts be available in Weekly mode? I don't use daily charts at all in my trading.

:)

Like mcdirt I rarely use daily charts. Monthly would be nice as well!

Will look at allowing the chart periodicity to be changed to weekly and monthly.

The Start and Stop dates now function correctly in V3.1.1 pre-release beta version now available for download. Some of the other issues mentioned have been fixed in this release as well. Please check the updated revision list for all additions and corrections at http://www.compuvision.com.au/TradeSimReadme.htm

David, cannot get this to work. I'm doing somethting wrong - looking at the reports, it always tests the full trade database ignoring the Start/Stop dates. The only way I can get it to work is to use the old method of highlighting.

mcdirt - worked for me. This is a very useful feature! I can very quickly test different time periods.

Also, works for me. Make sure you make the date changes from the trade database window.

Cheers

Ditto--it works for me. Very, very helpful since I develop trading systems that span ten years and I want to be sure they work in flat markets like late 1993 thru 1994, bull markets like the early 1990s and late 1990s, and bear markets like late 2000 thru late 2002.

The new date feature makes the job many times easier than having to highlight the different transactions for each testing scenario. Job well done, David.

OK, thanks, I'll try again. Sector - are you saying that you hold shares for 10 years? I use a longer term system (aiming for each winning trade > 365 days) but after coming up with the basic system, only test from 01/01/02 through to now on an ongoing basis as I only trade the asx200 and testing older data has little (?) relevance due to Survivor Bias etc.

No, I don't hold over ten years, but I want to test the systems in all kinds of market conditions, and the last ten years provides just about every scenario--up, down, and flat. Makes for some very long-running Monte Carlo simulations!
