David, with the position sizing models that I am using (all based on % risk), it would be more advantageous to me if I could specify the minimum parcel size as a % rather than a $ value. Is there any chance of adding that option?

The BEST setup IMHO would be something like ...

Min Parcel = xx% with an absolute minimum of $xxxx
Max Parcel = xx% with an absolute maximum of $xxxx

:)

Ah yes but don't forget that the ASX stipulates a minimum parcel size of $500 for every trade which is why the thing is specified in dollars. Even if your percentage criteria was met but your parcel size was less than the minimum then you really could not take the trade anyway.

What do other people think?

David, I would have thought that people that buy a top-line, professional tool like TradeSim wouldn't be concerned about the ASX minimum parcel rules, but perhaps.

Using the "Min Parcel = xx% with an absolute minimum of $xxxx" format would still allow for this.

Yes but you still have to model realistic trading scenarios as accurately as possible. However I take your point and will endeavor to incorporate the second option.

David,

When is the new version coming out? I'm getting frustrated at not being able to use a % for the minimum parcel size ... it means I can't test my system properly as I can't control portoflio risk using the $ min pos, even in conjunction with the max number of open positions parameter.

:( Sorry that I haven't released an iterim version but have been working on the Open Equity curve function for the Enterprise Edition. So far things are looking quite positive. The open equity curve should add another perspective to the system analysis.

Will also add the feature that you have requested.:)

Ah-ha! Open Equity - I knew it! Does that mean that the new version will do MAE? Sounds exciting, thanks for the info and sorry about complaining.

The stats will come later, however you can still export the chart information to Excel etc.
